9 weeks...

Wednesday we will be 9 weeks pregnant with our twins!
They are the size of an olive!

Sadly there isn't a picture each week for twins.
Our babies are growing so much According to babycenter.com:
"Your new residents are nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. They starting to look more and more human. Their essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your babies hearts finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do their tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your babies organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks.Their eyes are fully formed, but their eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. They have tiny earlobes, and their mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your babies basic physiology is in place, their poised for rapid weight gain."

BIG SURPRISE

Today we went for our second ultrasound. I was nervous and excited ready to see Little One's heartbeat. However, we saw more than we ever hoped.  We discovered we are having TWINS!! Holy Moly!! I can not believe it! We saw Baby A first. Everything looked great. Then our doctor said "Well it looks like there is another baby!" What?!!? Shock hit. Bob remained very quiet. We had no idea this was possible. Twins do not run our family but there was Baby B. Both babies look great and have a great heartbeats. We are in shock and so excited!!  Our due date in May 5, 2011. We are still high risk this may mean bed rest later on and preterm labor or a c-section but time will tell. We are completely trusting God to take care of us! This weekend we are going home to tell our parents not olny are we expecting but we are expecting twins!! I can not wait to see their reaction this is the first grandbaby, actually grandbabies on each side. Guess I need to change the name of our blog now!

8 Weeks...

Today I am 8 weeks pregnant! I can not believe it! Our little one is a size of a raspberry.

I love getting my weekly updates from babycenter.com . This what they have to say about little one's growth spurt this week.
"New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it."

Fatigue...

I am SOOO tired!! I know that this is all part of pregnancy but I am exhausted ALL the time. Work is brutal, I crash as soon as I get home. On days I am off I sleep late and try to go to bed early as well  a take a nap. I read that it gets better after the first trimester. The heartburn is also terrible at night which is not good for sleep. As much as I would like to write more I am super tired so off to bed I go!

Our New Favorite Store

We have a new store we like to go to.

We had a lot of fun looking around finding things we like and don't like. A little overwhelmed about how much everything thing cost so much for such a little person. We had the most fun trying out gliders. Our one purchase today was Preggie Pops. They are said to help with nausea and so far I love them!

7 Weeks

Today I am 7 weeks pregnant. Our little one did a lot of growing this past week doubling in size. The baby is now about the size of a blueberry.
Each week I get updates from the bump.com and babycenter.com I thought I would share what the baby center says about our little one this week.
"The big news this week: Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities you're daydreaming about holding and tickling. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of her tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Your baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry.

If you could see inside your womb, you'd spot eyelid folds partially covering her peepers, which already have some color, as well as the tip of her nose and tiny veins beneath parchment-thin skin. Both hemispheres of your baby's brain are growing, and her liver is churning out red blood cells until her bone marrow forms and takes over this role. She also has an appendix and a pancreas, which will eventually produce the hormone insulin to aid in digestion. A loop in your baby's growing intestines is bulging into her umbilical cord, which now has distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to and from her tiny body."

How amazing! The miracle of life is truly that a miracle.

1st Prenatal Visit

So today Bob and I went to the doctor and discovered we are not 8 weeks like we thought we are actually 6 weeks. We are looking at a May 8, 2011 due date. I had more blood work done today as well as our first ultrasound. We saw our little one's heart beat it was fabulous!
Our little one is the size of a Sweet Pea.
According to BabyCenter.com our little one is doing a lot of growing this week.
"This week's major developments: The nose, mouth, and ears that you'll spend so much time kissing in eight months are beginning to take shape. If you could see into your uterus, you'd find an oversize head and dark spots where your baby's eyes and nostrils are starting to form. His emerging ears are marked by small depressions on the sides of the head, and his arms and legs by protruding buds. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body. His intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles, and bones."
We go back in 2 weeks for another ultrasound!

Little One's First Outfit

I could not resist. I am actually surprised I waited so long. Despite having no clue what the gender is we bought our little one's first outfit. We were at Target yesterday and saw the cutest outfit that was gender neutral. It is so cute! I love baby clothes!

Parents to be...

It is hard to imagine we are going to be parents in just a few months. We are excited and scared. I am such a blessed girl to be married to my best friend. A man who loves the Lord and me.
This is our first picture after discovering we were expecting.
Parenthood is a scary and exciting journey and I am so honored to be sharing this journey with my fabulous husband! We are already so in love with our little one and pray for him/her daily.

I will praise the one who has choosen me to carry you

I am so honored to be carrying our little one. My greatest dream is coming true; I am becoming a mother. There are so many fears of things that can happen or problems that may come. Little one you are so loved. I have decided no matter what I will choose to praise the one who has choosen me to carry you.

A little sewing...

I have had a lot of fun teaching myself to sew and recently enjoyed sewing things for my best friend when she had her son Aiden. Now I am elated that I get to sew things for my own baby. It is hard not the be biased in fabric choices. There are so many cute girly fabrics. I can not wait to start on some more sewing projects for little one but until we find out boy or girl I will have to try and find some cute neutral fabrics.

Gotta pee..again

That title pretty much sums up my life right now. I honestly thought this is what moms to be only had deal with in their third trimester but I have learned I was so wrong. (This may be TMI but I am just being honest.)  The hormone that causes this is known as HCG. This hormone increases blood volume during pregnancy, therefore increasing urine flow. Needless to say at work today I felt like I was going to pee all the time, especially since I drink a ton of water while at work. I have also noticed I have to get up in the middle of the night a lot more too. I am thinking I should cut out my cup of water before bed, that may help  me avoid my 3:00 am potty run. I can not imagine what it will be like when little one is big enough to press on my bladder. Despite the annoying frequent bathroom breaks this is another pregnancy symptom that is totally worth it.
